First edition of the Festival

Friday 12 May 2006 the first edition of the Streaming Festival kicked off. At this international film festival, films didn’t play in cinemas but could be viewed online on six different film related websites.

This first edition of the Streaming Festival was a cooperation with several influential Dutch audio-visual art institutions like: the new filmmakers association, SubmarineChannel, the Dutch institute for animation film - NIAf, Filmstad, Lazy Marie, Kunstkanaal, TENT. and the Vrije Academie.

The festival was supported by

• Filmmuseum.

The servers were sponsored by XS4ALL, which assured fast and high quality streaming of the films during the festival. The image quality was described as near-dvd.
